Speech Settings Explanation

MemUAI provides a “Read Aloud” feature using the voice engines built into your operating system. The voices available depend on your device, and you can also adjust playback speed to fit your learning needs.

1. System Dependency #

  • The voice options come from your operating system (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android).
  • MemUAI only uses the voices installed on your device; the list differs depending on the system.
  • Quality and style (male/female, accents) depend on your local system setup.

2. Recommended Voice Choices #

  • Prefer “Neural” or “Natural” voices if available. These voices use neural network technology and sound much closer to human speech.
  • Windows: Microsoft Neural Voices are recommended for smoother, natural pronunciation.
  • macOS / iOS: Apple Siri neural voices provide very natural speech.
  • Android: Google Speech Services with Neural voices are highly recommended.
  • Other systems: Use natural or enhanced voices available in your system settings.

3. Adjust Speech Speed #

  • In the “Voice Speed” setting, use the slider to make the voice slower or faster.
  • Slower speed is helpful for beginners focusing on pronunciation and careful listening.
  • Faster speed is useful for advanced learners to simulate natural conversation pace.
  • Adjust speed according to your learning goal and comfort level.

4. Device-based Setting #

  • Voice settings in MemUAI are not managed at the account level and will not sync across devices.
  • They depend on the local configuration of each device.
  • If you want to add or change voices, please go to your operating system’s speech or accessibility settings.
  • Each device must be configured separately, and the changes only apply to that device.

5. Benefits #

  • Natural voices improve comprehension and make listening more engaging.
  • Neural voices provide smoother intonation, closer to authentic speech.
  • Speech speed control gives flexibility for both beginners and advanced learners.
